Mission Statement

Since 1975,  Arabian Eyes School of Danse Orientale has served to provide quality instruction, educate its students in correct movement and techniques of Egyptian and Traditional belly dance, instruct its students in correct attitude towards dance, assist students with their individual needs and goals, provide opportunities for performance, promote camaraderie and respect among students, and most importantly, create an atmosphere of fun while learning the beautiful art form of Oriental dance.

Director, Sulisha Bathemess is the only belly dance performer/instructor in Utah who has received formal training in the fine art discipline of dance.  This insures correct instruction and injury prevention for the student.  In addition, Sulisha is a professional belly dance performer.  This means she worked in nightclubs and theaters throughout the United States and Canada for earned wages.

Be aware that there are no certifications or qualifications to be a belly dance teacher.  Many "students" in this area teach belly dance as a hobby.  Always ask a prospective "teacher" about their formal dance training from an accredited school and their performance experience.  Performing must include dancing on a regular basis and receiving wages, or it is considered a hobby rather than a profession.

Oh, and if a teacher claims to have danced in Turkey or Egypt, ask if that teacher had a legal contract with the club, how long did they dance there, and did they get paid.  (Dancers go to foreign countries on vacation and beg to dance one night for free to claim they danced in a foreign country.)   Isn't that funny?
